Our Initiatives
What we do
Our initiatives focus on community development, cultural heritage promotion, and support programs that empower women and improve the well-being of families in Upper Banyang and the diaspora.

Community Development
The Upper Banyang Women Association (UBWA) implements impactful projects designed to improve livelihoods and enhance the well-being of communities across Upper Banyang. Our initiatives focus on critical development needs, including the establishment of medical and health centers, provision of clean water through boreholes, expansion of access to electricity, and the improvement of educational infrastructure. We also support women’s economic empowerment programs, youth development initiatives, agricultural sustainability projects, and community-based health outreach services. Through these efforts, UBWA remains committed to fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life for families across Upper Banyang.

Cultural Heritage and Community Engagement
The Upper Banyang Women Association (UBWA) is dedicated to promoting and sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the Upper Banyang people through well-organized and impactful cultural initiatives. We organize culturally enriching events that celebrate, preserve, and promote our traditions, values, and identity across generations.
Our cultural programs serve as a platform to unite members at home and in the diaspora, fostering a strong sense of belonging, pride, and community cohesion. Through these events, we showcase traditional attire, music, dance, cuisine, and customs, while also creating opportunities for cultural education and intergenerational knowledge transfer.
In addition to celebration, our cultural initiatives are designed to strengthen community bonds, support social development, and reinforce shared values that contribute to the overall well-being of our families and communities.
UBWA remains committed to ensuring that our cultural heritage is not only preserved but actively promoted as a foundation for unity, identity, and sustainable community development..

Support Services
The Upper Banyang Women Association (UBWA) is committed to providing dedicated support and essential resources that empower women and enhance the well-being of families both in Upper Banyang and across the diaspora. Our support services are designed to address social, emotional, and practical needs within our communities, ensuring that members are supported during both times of need and moments of celebration.
A key component of our support initiatives are ESAK, and NEREKET, our bereavement support program, which offers compassion, solidarity, and structured assistance to families during periods of loss. Through this program, UBWA fosters a strong sense of community care, ensuring that no member faces difficult times alone.
In addition, UBWA provides a range of community-centered support services, including emergency assistance, family support initiatives, and programs that promote social welfare and resilience. These efforts are grounded in our values of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility.
Through our support services, UBWA continues to strengthen community bonds, uplift women, and contribute to the overall well-being and stability of families both at home and in the diaspora.
